What standard do I have to be to join the club?

There is no set standard at all for the club, EVERYONE (providing you will not drown on us) is welcome to the club, we have members ranging from elite level to people swimming and playing just for a bit of fitness. Basically ability does not matter at all! Beginners are very welcome!

Do I have to attend all the sessions?

In a word, no. BUCS squads members are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they can, but for everyone else, sessions are completely optional. obviously though, the more the merrier.

I have missed the first few sessions, can I still come down?

Of course you can, everyone is welcome regardless of when you decide to join.

Do I have to trial for the club?

No, we have trials but only for the BUCS swimming team, EVERYONE is welcome to swim and play polo regardless of if you are in the team or not.

Is there an opportunity to try it out before I decide to join?

Yes, we will be holding a Water Polo Give it a Go session on Tues 19th Oct. Meeting in the Edge reception at 8.30pm.

What do match fees pay for?

Match fees are set at £4 per game for all players participating in waterpolo matches. The only exception to this is home played friendlies.

Match fees have been introduced to standardise the cost of playing matches by covering all travel costs and entry fees in one payment. Home match fees help cover the cost of travelling to matches that are further afield.

Do I need an Edge Gym membership?

No you do not need an Edge gym membership, however all members will need a sports pass to gain access to the facilities. This is priced at £70 and includes access to the pool for all the clubs sessions and to the strength and conditioning gym for land training sessions.
